Peter's Chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner during World War II. In wartime Europe; it was not easy to find quality products. Looking for a suitable christening gift for Peter; son of his friend and fellow furniture designer Børge Mogensen; Wegner decided to take matters into his own hands and make the gift himself. Wegner was a skilled cabinetmaker and designed and built a simple but ingenious chair that would function as both a functional piece of furniture and an eye-catching toy. Designed as a life-size three-dimensional puzzle in untreated beech; the chair can be easily assembled without tools; to the great joy of children and adults. Peter's Chair can be perfectly combined with Peter's Table. Together; these furniture highlights the extent of Wegner's spirit of innovation and his superior ability to meet children's natural needs without compromising design and quality |
