Materials and construction
Structures (sides, top, bottom, tops) of the furniture made of solid fir 3 or 4 cm thick with knots.
Internal elements (shelves) made of solid fir 1.7 cm thick with knots.
Doors made of solid fir, 2.6 cm thick, knot-free (knots can be provided upon request). The doors are painted disassembled in order to guarantee, despite the natural movements of the wood, that no unpainted marks appear.
All doors have Blum soft hinges.
Drawers: front made of solid fir, 2.6 cm thick, knot-free (knots available upon request). Interior of the three-sided drawers completely in birch plywood, whitened finish. The bottom is made of 6 mm thick plywood. All drawers have Blum cushioned guides.
Shelves made of solid spruce. 3 cm with knots.
Frames made of solid spruce. 7.8 and 5 cm with knots.
Furniture backs made using 6 mm thick plywood. The visible backrests are in spruce veneered plywood.
The glue used in the production process is water-based vinyl glue type “D3” according to UNI EN 204-205 standard, non-toxic for humans and the environment.
The furniture is assembled using beech wood dowels and small metal parts.
Painting
All finishes are made using ecological water-based paints, non-toxic for humans and the environment, obtained with natural components that enhance the beauty of the wood, ensuring high mechanical and chemical resistance and good resistance to light. They comply with current regulations regarding emissions into the atmosphere during the painting phase of the product. Upon request, they can comply with the regulations for finishing children's toys (European regulation EN 71-3).
The finishes of band 3 and 4 are brushed. Brushing consists of a process that highlights the grain of the wood. It is performed on all external parts. The finishes of band 4 are antiqued or powdered only on the outside.
The furniture may undergo slight color variations over time as wood itself is a natural photosensitive material.
Safety
The glue used in the production process is water-based vinyl glue type “D3” according to UNI EN 204-205 standard, non-toxic for humans and the environment.
The entirely solid wood product, the water-based glue and the water-based paints guarantee and qualify Scandola furniture as a natural product for both humans and the surrounding environment. In the furniture of this production, there is no substance that causes harm to humans.
All Scandola furniture has rounded edges and corners to ensure the least possible danger in their use.
Use and maintenance
Wood is a natural product and must be treated with attention and care. For correct maintenance, avoid placing wet objects for a long time, pointed or sharp-edged objects, pots or dishes removed from the heat and any other furnishings that could damage the surface of the furniture.
To clean, use a damp cloth with water and neutral soap or non-aggressive detergents. An appropriate cleaner and regenerator are available from Scandola.
