Features and functionality

Eternal is the antithesis between light and dark, between Sun and Moon, as part of the very flow of existence. There are many allegorical meanings attributed to the necessary relationship between the two elements, which exist one as a consequence of the other and vice versa. The Alchemie T lamp (designed by Giulia Archimede for Catellani & Smith) thus becomes a field of investigation of this contrasting but always, and forever, linked dimension. Alchemie T is a precious sculpture made up of two discs: one is in alabaster, fixed and illuminated by LEDs, while the second, in brass, slides on the base with a light gesture of the hand. The interaction between light and shadow reaches its peak at the moment in which the two discs overlap, almost giving rise to an eclipse.
