With its slim structure and fluid, sculptural shape; Hans J. Wegner's CH71 armchair is a testament to the legendary Danish designer's unique understanding of woodworking and upholstery. Created in 1952; the design shows all the hallmarks of the \"Master of the chair\"; including a perfect unity of form and function; and a refined aesthetic that has remained effortlessly contemporary throughout the decades. In addition to being a highly skilled cabinetmaker; Wegner possessed a thorough knowledge of upholstery techniques; which allowed him to conceive complex pieces requiring craftsmanship. The CH71 armchair is one such design; with padded curves that wrap perfectly around a slim, angular frame. The designer also took the proportions of the chair into great consideration; resulting in a streamlined piece that can add style and softness to even the smallest spaces. With a wide range of fabrics to choose from; the chair can be upholstered in a variety of colors and textures; while the legs and handles are available in oak and walnut with various finishes |
